2023 Balmoral Art Month (BAM!)

After a successful inaugural Balmoral Art Month (BAM) during June 2022, FOBC would like to announce that BAM will be held in June 2023.

Join us for a full month of walks and activities in Balmoral Cemetery, Morningside in Brisbane. Celebrating our artists, musicians, a woman’s rights campaigner and a vaudeville troupe conman. Come and learn how to take a better photo using your mobile phone, try your hand at sketching and talk to a stonemason.

Post a photo taken in the cemetery on our Facebook page during June and have a chance to win a gift voucher from Riverbend Books, Bulimba.

Visit our information display in the Cemetery’s lower shelter near Bennett’s Road.

Come on a guided walk and visit a few of our creative residents.

It all kicks off on Sunday 4 June 2pm-4pm with a photography workshop by Luke Monsour from “Bulimba Studios” at the lower shelter.

The second week 11 June join tutor Lara for a relaxing session of “Sketching in the Cemetery” 2pm-4pm at the hill top shelter.

Third Sunday in June 2pm-4pm is a guided walk to the graves of some of Balmoral’s creative residents.

Finally the last Sunday in June 2pm-4pm “Meet a Mason” session with stonemason Alan Wagner.

ANZAC DAY 2022 SELF GUIDED WALK

This year we have a Self Guided walk for Anzac Day – you can do the walk on Anzac Day on Monday or before or after the day.

A guide to the walk is provided in the lower shelter (Bennett’s Rd entrance).

We have 9 veterans featured from both the First and Second World Wars. Only a fraction of the hundreds of veterans buried in the cemetery. These men are all located in Sections 15 and 19 – just off the perimeter road before the memorial wall at the top of the cemetery.

We welcome all to come and read these soldiers stories and pay respect to their sacrifices.

“Remembrance Day Walk”

7th November 2021 - “Remembrance Day Walk”

Starting at 3pm at the Green Shed

Balmoral Cemetery – Wynnum Road Morningside Brisbane

3 - 4.30pm Meet at the Green Shed (parking just inside the Wynnum Road Gate).

On 7th November, the Sunday before Remembrance Day, the Friends of Balmoral Cemetery are having a short walk and dedication of War Graves recently been completed for First World War Veterans previously buried in unmarked graves at Balmoral Cemetery.

We will be joined by the National Service Pipe Band and the Morningside Scouts will also be doing a special Scout service at the new grave of Walter Trevethan, former District Scout Master.

BYO - water, hat, sturdy shoes and sunscreen and practice COVID safe measures. This walk is on relatively flat terrain.
