What we do
The Balmoral Cemetery is an important community resource
as well as a place of respect. In a way, its a bit like
an open-air museum! Some of our areas earliest written
history and monumental artwork can be found here.
FOBC works to improve the overall appearance of the site
through clean ups, tree pruning, rubbish removal and some
restoration work. We are also working hard to document the
history of the cemetery and prepare heritage trails, school
activities and geneological services.
The Friends of Balmoral Cemetery work to preserve and enhance
the Balmoral Cemetery and our vision is for the long-term
preservation of this important part of Brisbanes history.
FOBC is a not-for-profit, independent community organisation.
Membership is open to anyone with an interest in, or connection
with, the cemetery.
An executive committee oversees the operations of the organisation,
backed up by committed and active members who work hard on
a variety of tasks from cemetery clean up activities to the
recording of monumental inscriptions.
